The West Texas Health Disparities Research Symposium brings together students, professionals, and community members to share research, ideas, and solutions focused on healthcare challenges in West Texas. Attendees will gain insight into the region’s unique needs—with a focus on the healthcare workforce shortage for this year’s symposium—and learn about ongoing efforts to address them.
Through perspectives in medicine, public health, policy, and related fields, the symposium highlights current challenges using real data and research. It also provides a space to explore practical, evidence-based strategies and policy approaches aimed at improving access to care and health outcomes in our communities.

- Only abstracts submitted by June 5 are eligible for Oral Presentations
- Applicants will be notified early of acceptance
- If abstract is accepted, attendance for the ENTIRE symposium is required
- Late Abstract Deadline: August 7
- Applicants will be notified of acceptance within 2 weeks of deadline
- If abstract is accepted, attendance for the ENTIRE symposium is required
- General Registration Deadline: August 28
- Only required if not submitting an abstract
- Once registered, attendance for the ENTIRE symposium is required
